PARRA _ Andres Eduardo was taken from this earthly existence on May 13, 2007 at the age of 23. Andres was born in Vancouver March 26, 1984 to Carlos Parra of Burnaby and Marcela Shimizu of Vancouver. Andres graduated from Killarney High School. He received a scholarship for the Gifted Program at Arts Umbrella on Vancouver's Granville Island. Andres' own art was in the oeuvre of musical abstractionism and a show of his work was held on February 4, 2005 at Gallerie Je Reviens in Westport, Connecticut, an event that was of immense pride to him. The gallery owners called the show "monumental," and Andres' work "brilliant." Among his favourite artists were surrealists Rene Magritte, Joan Miro, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Willem de Kooning, Damian Hurst and Roberto Matta. It was while discussing these artists that his enthusiasm became infectious, his big brown eyes flashing and hands waving as he endeavoured to explain what their work meant to him. Andres loved sitting up late into the night debating art, literature, poetry, philosophy and religion as his insatiable curiosity about life struggled to come to grips with the world about him and his place in it. Andres is survived by his father and mother, his step-mother and step-father, Ana and Ray, and three brothers and a sister: Daniel, David, Ryan and Kayla. He will forever be remembered with the deepest love in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.
